We will honor our respective peoples by learning from each other. You will become a great monk, if I have anything to say about it. And I will learn the ways of your people.

As you walk the road of your training, you will begin to discover within yourself the power to unlock new techniques. You need not even learn them from me, or another more experienced monk - you will find that they come to you on their own.
For now, you should go and practice the basics. Gather more experience, and develop a new technique - once you have, you can practice it on the dummies nearby to master it.
